London Throwdown Championships

Jedi Jack and Jill ~ £10 per person

This is a J&J with a twist. As with all J&J’s you sign up as either a lead or a follow and not in a partnership. It will play out like a normal J&J with the only difference being that you will be blind folded. This competition is open to anyone and everyone brave enough!

Prelims: 4 short songs, with leads and follows taking it in turns to be blindfolded each time you have a new partner
Finals: Both dancers in the couple will be blindfolded! Each couple will have 2 spotlights of 8x8s.

Prizes:
Winners: Jedi Jack and Jill Trophy 2017

Longest Heel Slide ~ FREE

This pretty well does what it says on the tin. This competition is open to absolutely anyone and everyone and is usually a lot of fun. Simply line up, take a run up if you need and slide! Slides on the heels or flat foot are all permitted.

Prizes:
Winner: Longest Heel Slide Champion 2017 (medal)

Big Apple Contest ~ FREE

Just like back in the day, our MC will call out some classic solo jazz moves and competitors have to dance them! This is a bit more like the traditional Big Apple Contest, rather than the Big Apple routine. If you don’t know the moves you can make it up or take inspiration from those around you. This round is all about repertoire, confidence and panache, and judges will tap you out if you don’t make it to the next round. Competitors dance to one song, approx 200-240 bpm – three rounds of Big Apple Contest, with tap outs through each round.

Prizes:
Winner: Big Apple Contest Champion 2017 (medal)
